The Florida League of Cities (FLC), the united voice for Florida’s municipal governments, announced that Bay Harbor Islands Mayor Isaac Salver is this year’s recipient of the League’s prestigious E. Harris Drew Municipal Official Lifetime Achievement Award.

Presented annually, this award is named for Supreme Court Justice E. Harris Drew, the man who coined the League’s motto: “Local self-government, the key to American democracy.” The award recognizes and honors local elected officials who have made lasting and worthwhile contributions to the citizens of Florida through their efforts and dedication in the performance of their duties at the local level.

“The recognition of this award is humbling to know that it was given to me this year when we have such a flock of quality leaders from across the state,” said Salver. “The E. Harris Drew Award is considered by the Florida League of Cities to be the highest award for outstanding leadership, so it’s incredible. I get emotional thinking about it, that I was chosen for such an award.”

With more than 26 years of service, Salver has devoted most of his adult life to public service, championing the Town of Bay Harbor Islands, the Miami-Dade County League of Cities, FLC, and our state. Under his leadership, Bay Harbor Islands became one of the top ten safest cities in Florida.

After attending his first FLC event in 2001, Salver quickly became involved. He has served as Chair of the Florida Municipal Loan Council for over 14 years and remains its Chairman today.  He joined the Florida League of Cities Board of Directors in 2003, where he remains to this day, and served as FLC President from 2019-2020.

During his presidency, Salver helped develop the children’s book “The City that Talks.” He has served as a Board Member of the Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade County for nearly 20 years. As the longest-serving member, Salver has served three terms as the Trust’s Treasurer. The Trust invests over $250,000,000 per year in children’s programs outside of school.

As President of the Miami-Dade County League of Cities, Salver led efforts on several historic ballot measures. He has earned numerous honors for his service, and this award is yet another reflection of his lasting impact on Florida’s cities.
