Behind every great city is a network of dedicated citizens who give their time, energy, and expertise to help shape the community’s future. In September, the City of Oviedo employees and Councilmembers came together to celebrate those individuals at the annual City Board Appreciation Dinner, a special evening organized by the City Clerk’s Office to honor the volunteer members who serve on Oviedo’s advisory boards.
The volunteers play a vital role in keeping the City running smoothly. They dedicate countless hours after work, reviewing plans, making recommendations, and ensuring that Oviedo continues to grow in a way that reflects the values of its residents.
The boards recognized during the evening included:
- Community Redevelopment Agency
- Firefighters Pension Board
- Local Planning Agency
- Police Officers Pension Board
- Public Arts Board
- Recreation and Parks Advisory Board
- Sustainability Task Force
- Magistrate
- And all the City employees who help organize, manage, and participate in these boards!
“We are grateful for all of the board members who take time out of their busy day to meet and shape the City,” said City Manager Bryan Cobb. “Our City Clerk’s office does a magnificent job putting this event together every year to show our gratitude.”
Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner and desserts provided by Oviedo restaurants, making for a warm and welcoming evening filled with laughter, good conversation, and connection.
The event was a heartfelt reminder that Oviedo’s progress doesn’t just happen during business hours, it’s built through the dedication of residents who care deeply about their community. Their behind-the-scenes work helps guide city policies, enhance public spaces, support sustainability, and preserve the hometown charm Oviedo is known for.
As the City continues to grow, the contributions of these volunteers remain invaluable. Their commitment ensures that Oviedo’s future is as bright, inclusive, and community driven as its past.
