The City of Ocala’s Cultural Arts Division is enriching public spaces across the community through its Art in City Spaces program, featuring five new visual art exhibitions.
Designed to make art accessible to all, the program places rotating exhibitions in everyday civic spaces, transforming city buildings into welcoming galleries while giving local and regional artists meaningful platforms to share their work. Each exhibition remains on display for four to six months, and all are free and open to the public.
The current round of exhibitions can be found at five indoor locations throughout Ocala and feature a diverse range of styles, themes, and artistic voices:
2025 Student and Emerging Artist Competition: Techne
Ocala City Hall, 110 SE Watula Ave.
This open-themed group exhibition highlights the creativity of Marion County high school students alongside emerging artists with up to six years of experience. A public reception and awards ceremony was held on January 13.
Geometric Abstractions by Ro Martinez
Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, 1821 NW 21st Ave.
Martinez’s work explores form, color, and structure through bold geometric compositions that invite contemplation and interpretation.
Natural Forces by Carlynne Hershberger
Clerk’s Office inside City Hall, 110 SE Watula Ave.
This exhibition reflects the power and beauty of the natural world through expressive visual storytelling.
Bodies of Water by Rebecca Pujals Jones
Ocala International Airport, 1770 SW 60th Ave., Suite 600
Travelers and visitors can experience this serene collection inspired by waterways, movement, and reflection.
Reflecting On by Kathy Hancock
Recreation and Parks Eighth Avenue Adult Activity Center, 830 NE Eighth Ave.
Hancock’s work offers a thoughtful, introspective perspective that resonates with viewers in this community-centered space.
Through Art in City Spaces, Ocala continues to demonstrate how local government can foster creativity, support artists, and make cultural experiences part of everyday civic life.
