The City of Doral joined Miami Dade College (MDC) West Campus in hosting a lively I AM MDC Day parade on Tuesday, September 2. Mayor Christi Fraga, members of the City Council, and the Doral Police Department proudly took part in the celebration, which highlighted the College's lasting impact on students and families across South Florida.

Students, alumni, faculty, and residents gathered to celebrate MDC's 65th anniversary and its legacy of serving over 2.5 million students. The parade began at the newly inaugurated Doral Central Park and concluded at MDC West Campus, filling the streets with spirit, energy, and pride.

"Doral is honored to celebrate this milestone with Miami Dade College," said Mayor Christi Fraga, a proud alumna of the College. "Having once walked those same halls, it is deeply meaningful for me to see our students, alumni, and community join together to commemorate MDC's 65th anniversary. This marks the third year our City has hosted the celebration, and holding it in the newly opened Doral Central Park made the occasion even more special – a perfect backdrop to honor education, community spirit, and the vibrant energy that makes Doral truly unique."

Miami Dade College is the most diverse educational institution in the nation, serving students from 167 countries who collectively speak 63 languages. Its eight campuses and centers offer more than 300 degree and certificate pathways, including associate and baccalaureate degrees, career and technical certificates, and apprenticeships. MDC West Campus, the youngest of the College's campuses, opened in 2006 in Doral with just 150 students. Today, it serves more than 14,000 students annually and continues to be a vital partner in the community.

In addition to celebrating the College's history, the event raised funds for student scholarships, supporting future generations in pursuing higher education.
