Coral Springs City Commissioners handed the gavel to some of the community’s future leaders as part of a Youth Mock Commission Meeting at the Coral Springs City Hall Commission Chambers.
More than 30 fifth graders representing the city’s elementary schools participated in the meeting that was structured to mirror a real commission meeting and that allowed students to discuss and vote on topics of public interest.
Students were assigned roles including Mayor, Vice Mayor, Commissioner, City Clerk, Concerned Resident, and more. Many members of Coral Springs city leadership were in attendance to interact with students and guide the young minds through the workings of local government. The event was planned and implemented by the City Clerk’s Office. Click here to view a full photo gallery.
