The City of Doral recently launched a partnership with Freebee for a pilot program that provides on-demand, door-to-door transportation to senior citizens ages 65 and up. The free service is available Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., and Fridays, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Pickup or dropoff is available within Doral city limits to or from points of interest that include parks, grocery stores, urgent care facilities and drug stores as well as a community center, police station, membership warehouse club, hospital, lab, retail store, church and mall.
Residents can request rides by contacting Freebee’s dispatch line and providing a pickup and dropoff location. They also can request rides via the Ride Freebee mobile app.
To register for the program, residents (ages 65-plus) call the Freebee dispatch line to create a profile by providing their name, date of birth, email address and phone number. The Freebee dispatch team tells passengers to provide an ID card upon pickup on their first ride request. Once verified, the riders will no longer need to show their ID moving forward.
Headquartered in South Florida, Freebee pioneers free, on-demand, 100% electric public transportation. With over 150 vehicles, it offers transportation to 40 municipalities and campuses in Florida and Virginia. The service provides accessible transit.
