The City of Homestead and Miami Dade College (MDC) Homestead Campus recently celebrated the grand opening of the Student Success Center. The new, modern facility connects Downtown Homestead and the MDC Homestead Campus by serving the student and business communities.

Dozens of community members and dignitaries gathered to cut the ribbon on the facility. Before the opening, Mayor Steven D. Losner spoke about the profound significance of the building for the local Homestead community and Miami Dade College.

“This building is not only an important resource for our community but continues to further the goal of making Homestead the destination,” Losner said. “It is a great addition to the City, and we are proud to have MDC as our neighbor.”

The Student Success Center is the result of a partnership between MDC and Homestead in which the City gifted land to create this hub for essential services. One floor will accommodate entrepreneurial programming catering specifically to the small business community, with a specialized focus on entrepreneurship and economic and community development. The goal is to enable students to obtain workforce and business skills necessary to succeed in the job market.

The MDC Student Success Center is part of an overall vision to revitalize Downtown Homestead. Other completed projects include City Hall, Police Headquarters, Seminole Theatre, Cybrarium, Losner Park and Homestead Station transit and entertainment center. Learn more at discoverdowntownhomestead.com.
