The Anna Maria Sun newspaper recently named Holmes Beach Mayor Judy Holmes Titsworth as one of two 2023 Persons of the Year. Titsworth was honored for her determination and hard work, particularly in consistently defending Home Rule.

She was praised by Holmes Beach Commissioner Greg Kerchner, Commissioner Pat Morton and Police Chief Bill Tokajer for her dedication to the environment, support of the Police Department, love for the City and respect for City staff and residents. She helped develop the Islanders 4 Clean Water campaign to increase public awareness about water quality.

Titsworth’s Holmes family founded the City. She served as a City Commissioner for several years before serving as Mayor. Titsworth is in her third term as Mayor.

The Mayor attended the University of Alaska and Manatee Community College and majored in business. Titsworth has spent more than 30 years in the construction and development industry.

She has served as a wildlife rehabilitator for more than 30 years. Titsworth is an artist and also enjoys fishing, scuba diving and boating. She and her husband, Steve, have five children and several grandchildren.
