Two Florida communities are earning national recognition for their leadership in civic engagement and community-building. The National Civic League has named the following Florida cities as finalists for the 2026 All-America City Award:

  • The City of Opa-locka
  • The City of Riviera Beach

Presented annually, the All-America City Award recognizes communities that demonstrate excellence in bringing people together to address local challenges, strengthen trust, and create meaningful, lasting impact. This year’s theme, “America at 250: Strengthening Civic Health and Building Trust,” highlights the role cities play in fostering connection and collaboration at a time when it matters most. Finalists were selected through a competitive process that evaluates how communities engage residents, build partnerships, and deliver results. Each city’s application highlights initiatives that reflect local priorities, demonstrate measurable outcomes and employ inclusive approaches to problem-solving.

As finalists, Opa-locka and Riviera Beach will join communities from across the country in Denver this June to present their work to a national panel of judges. Teams typically include local officials, community partners, and residents, underscoring the collaborative spirit at the heart of the award.

For Florida’s cities, this recognition reinforces the importance of local leadership and community-driven solutions. Being named a finalist places these communities among the nation’s leaders in civic innovation and highlights the continued impact of cities working closely with residents to shape stronger, more connected communities.
