On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Across Florida, cities are preparing to mark the milestone with community gatherings, parades, concerts, fireworks, educational programs, and opportunities for residents to reflect on the country’s history and future.
From large waterfront festivals to small-town celebrations, Florida’s cities are helping make America250 a local experience rooted in community pride, public service, and shared tradition.
In Winter Park, the celebration has been underway since the beginning of the year. The city formed a dedicated America250 committee to coordinate community-wide events and initiatives taking place from January through July. Residents and businesses are also invited to take part in patriotic decorating competitions, including storefront and doorstep displays that showcase creativity, community spirit, and sustainability. The city will host its 31st Annual 4th of July Celebration on Friday, July 3.
Sarasota has created a dedicated America250 webpage to help residents find events, share community activities, and submit personal stories connected to the nation’s milestone. Planned events include an American flag art exhibit, the city’s Memorial Day Parade, the “Spirit of 76 – America’s 250th Celebration” on July 3, and a July 4 fireworks celebration at Bayfront Park.
Many cities are building the anniversary directly into their Independence Day traditions, using concerts, fireworks, and family-friendly activities to bring residents together for the national milestone.

Others are adding history, art, service, storytelling, parades, volunteer opportunities, and civic pride. Each celebration reflects the character of the community hosting it.
Following July 4, the Florida League of Cities wants to hear how cities, towns, and villages marked America’s 250th anniversary. Municipalities are encouraged to share photos, event recaps, and examples of how their communities celebrated the milestone for inclusion in the League’s QC Magazine. These stories help showcase the creativity, connection, and local pride that make Florida’s cities special. Share Your America250 Story
