The Town of Lady Lake put a new and creative spin on the classic mother/son dance by asking pairs to team up for a rugged, outdoor game of Survivor complete with mental and physical challenges.

Survivor: Mother/Son Edition was presented recently at Snooky Park by the Lady Lake Parks and Recreation Department. Courageous mothers and maternal figures, alongside their adventurous sons ages 6-17,  came prepared to outwit, outplay and outlast the competition to bring home prizes. Games included rubber ax throwing, giant lawn bowling, memory games and more.

The Town wanted to provide a different take on the mother/son dances that many cities host, said Amy Alicea, Lady Lake Events Coordinator. There were games for all ages as well as challenges broken down by age groups. The event also included a picnic-style lunch of burgers and hot dogs.

Tickets had to be bought in advance for $10 per person. Space was limited to ensure the best possible experience for participants.
