The City of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation Department developed two new events for children and teens. The City presented a HallowTeen event tailored for ages 13 to 17 and a family-friendly Día de los Muertos celebration for children ages 10 and under. Día de los Muertos is a Mexican tradition where loved ones who have passed away are honored and remembered.
The City presented an evening filled with thrills and chills at the first-ever HallowTeen Hangout, a Halloween event for teenagers where they enjoyed food, gaming and entertainment. The HallowTeen Hangout featured a scary movie (PG-13 rated) and a costume and trivia contest with prizes and music. All were enjoyed in a world of neon glow. Tickets for the HallowTeen Hangout were available for $10 per person, with no re-entry allowed.
The family event allowed parents, caregivers and children to learn the traditions of Día de los Muertos and gain a deeper appreciation for this cultural celebration. The event took place at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center.
Children and their families engaged in crafts, story time, dance lessons and a movie. Admission was $10 per person. The Día de los Muertos event was a fun-filled day with cultural activities, creativity and joy.
