St. Petersburg has unveiled the eight businesses selected for its inaugural 2026 Legacy Business Program, a new city initiative designed to celebrate and support locally owned enterprises that have helped shape the community for generations. The announcement, made April 17, spotlights companies spanning multiple industries and neighborhoods across the city, each with deep ties to the people and places around them.

Mayor Kenneth T. Welch praised the group as the program’s founding class, highlighting what their staying power means for the city.

“Congratulations to the inaugural honorees of the 2026 Legacy Business Program! We are incredibly proud to recognize and uplift businesses that have stood the test of time and shaped our community,” said Mayor Kenneth T. Welch. “The longevity of these establishments did not happen by accident; it was earned through commitment, consistency, and deep community connection. Through this program, we look forward to supporting the continued success and growth of legacy businesses for generations to come.”

What the Program Offers

Beyond the recognition, the Legacy Business Program gives designated businesses a boost through city-backed promotion and access to resources aimed at helping established businesses keep thriving.
