The American Lung Association’s new “State of the Air” report recognizes the nation’s cleanest cities.
The cities on the lists of the cleanest for ozone and short-term particle pollution are not ranked because all the cities earned the same scores.
The cleanest Florida cities by ozone air pollution are:
- Cape Coral-Fort Myers-Naples
- Crestview-Fort Walton Beach-Destin
- Gainesville-Lake City
- Jacksonville-St. Marys-Palatka (FL-GA)
- North Port-Sarasota
- Orlando-Lakeland-Deltona
- Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville
- Panama City
- Sebring-Avon Park
- Tallahassee.
The cleanest Florida cities by short-term particle pollution are:
- Cape Coral-Fort Myers-Naples
- North Port-Sarasota
- Orlando-Lakeland-Deltona
- Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville
- Pensacola-Ferry Pass (FL-AL).

The 2024 “State of the Air” report includes the most recent quality-assured air quality data from 2020-2022 and is updated to reflect the new annual particle pollution standard that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized in February 2024.
